Westin Resort 8/16/00

My wife and I spent 9 days at the Westin Resort in early Aug 00. The reception at the St. Thomas Airport was great. However...it was all downhill from there and I would never return to the Westin again. Resort is so huge that you (we are in excellent physical shape) were exhausted from climbing the 45 degree hillside all day. One thing for certain you learned early on that you didn't forget anything when you left the room to go somewhere. Instead of centrally locating all the amenities (restaurant,pool,fitness center, deli) they placed all of these at the extremities of the resort, making it a hike each time you wanted to do anything. The prices at the restaurant were extremely high for the buffet style meals available alcohol at the resort, other than happy hour, was prohibitively priced. People who woprked there were for the most part rude and unconcerned that you stay at the hotel was their bread and butter, some where especially arrogant such as the woman in the Deli and the towel hut attendant in the morning. We paid for an upgrade, on arriving at the Westin we were told it wasn't possible. There were a few positives, including the room which was beautiful, the pool was really nice. I have received better service and satisfaction from Days Inn.
