Renaissance Grande Beach Resort 03/03/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
Very nice and clean on a nice beach but tacky bldgs. to the left of bay. Our room was in a good area overlooking the pool and a view of the water but smelled like mildew. The staff however was very friendly. You need a car because it is to far to town for a cab it cost about $30 dollars one way for two people. Food at the resort is very expensive EX. one eff cost $7. Better to drive to the little twon of Red Hook there are several good restaurants there. Driving is hazardous we saw a bad collision because someone forgot to drive on the left side of the road. The remainder of the island is a little tacky. Go shopping at the mall near where the ships dock that was very nice. You will hear a lot when you are there about the great restaurants in French Town but is looks like a hole in the wall. It is your typical caribbean island like St. Marten a lot of poor people surronded by frand hotels. If you can get by the poorness of it all it is vey beautiful but I would not go there again.
